A Glance at Instructional DVDs About the Various Chess Rules

With their capacity to be very good learning tools, instructional DVDs are now at the forefront of education especially in teaching complex subjects like the various important rules of chess. These instruments are widely used to make the process of learning easier and more attractive. They contain vivid diagrams, lucid demonstrations, and carefully selected terminologies to fulfill the aim of making the subject at hand more interesting and easier to comprehend.

At present, there are plenty of excellent resources available that focus entirely on the essential rules of chess. "Chess Starts Here," "Chess With Geoff: How to Play Chess," and "Learning Chess the Easy Way: Chess For Absolute Beginners" are wonderfully produced DVDs. All of them promise to give accurate information about the various rules, which make chess a truly entertaining and one-of-a-kind game.

Hosted by U.S. chess hotshot Josh Waitzkin and his charismatic coach Bruce Pandolfini, "Chess Starts Here" is an excellent instructional DVD for beginners. It uses a different approach by bringing a different light into this excitingly good board game. It covers a clear explanation on the fundamental rules as well as the complicated moves, which make the game harder to understand. This video contains all the necessary information, which even children will find interesting and quite easy to understand.

The second instructional DVD is entitled "Chess With Geoff: How to Play Chess." This video aims to deliver the goods by zeroing in on the primary rules of the game. It introduces the game of chess to kids, who may not have any knowledge about the game but are quite interested in learning its uniquely interesting rules and features. It starts off with a clear prelude to the game and follows it up with a colorful feature on the movements of the various chess pieces. The principles of check, checkmate, and castling were clearly explained. Furthermore, every chess-inclined kid must see the beautiful segments on pawn promotion, stalemate, and chessboard set-up.

Meanwhile, "Learning Chess the Easy Way: Chess for Absolute Beginners" clearly defines its target audience. It contains all the basic information that a new chess player should know. Hosted by multi-awarded awarded chess grandmaster Susan Polgar, this instructional DVD is not limited to the serious aspects of chess. In fact, it covers the game from its history down to its interesting facts and features. The rules, movement of pieces, and point system in the game of chess make this video an ultimate chess resource.
